Kitchen Clean? And Master Bedroom

Clean is relative.  To my Mama's standards, it's filthy.  To mine, it's as clean as camping...maybe.  At least whatever horrid spills are gone.  The shelving is unique to say the least.   They had the shelves that are held in place by brackets hooked on the metal strips on the sides of the cabinet.  Then they decided that on all the lower shelves and the pantry to add roll out drawers.  But they didn't take out the shelves.  And now with the drawer hardware you can't remove the shelves.  Which to some extend isn't a bad thing.  If the brackets for the drawers don't hold up (parts are plastic, and some are already broken), at least if the drawer falls it's only going 1/2 inch.  But on the bad side, it was twice as much to clean.  Had to take out the drawers, clean the shelf below it, around all the hardware; then clean the drawer and put it all back.  Bruce, the sweet man that he is, took out one set of hardware, drawer runners and cleaned up some thing that I can't figure out.  It was as dark as dark chocolate, sticky, had no smell.  Really gross.  It was in the drawer, under the drawer, on the shelf and in all the hardware.

Haven't tackled the range top yet.  Talk about scary!

On the bright side, I did unpack all my new Fiesta Ware (Ole!).  Got it all washed and some of it put away.  I'm packing up some of the bowls and mugs because we just don't need all of it and I'm not sure I have enough cabinet space.  Besides, there's one set of pull our shelves/drawers that is down where the opening for the water line comes in from the garage.  That's where I found mice droppings and lots of dirt.  Decided what goes down there are things that are packed in boxes that won't get dirty.

For those of you who don't know, we're on a slab.  Never having lived on a slab, it's an interesting way of doing things.  When they first build the water and drain lines are buried in the concrete.  If you add anything it's all through cabinets or the attic.  Or you jack hammer the foundation.  Hard to find raised foundations down here.

Meanwhile, Bruce took out all the "built-ins" in the two closets in the master bedroom.  When they painted they just sprayed it all, never took out the shelves.  Must have taken them out to lay the carpet though...unless this really isn't new carpet.  Looks new.   He got a lot of spackling down also.

Oh, I forgot another great step forward today.  He put in the toilet paper holder!  YEA!  Don't have to remember to get it off the counter before sitting down!  Why they covered over it to begin with is a mystery.  As is so much in this house.

That's Kaya, the kids, Rhodesian Ridgeback.  She's staying with us this week.  Think she's a little lost.
