Bruce made another horrible discovery yesterday. We were told every room was all freshly
painted because the people were heavy smokers. (Forgive me for repeating this).
When we painted at dad’s we had to scrub the walls 4 times with ammonia
to get the smoke off so that the paint would stick.
They didn’t do that here. Went to
wipe down the what we thought were white drips from using water to scrap the
ceiling…turned out the dripping water washed the paint right off the
walls. So even the rooms we weren’t
going to re-paint have to be painted. But
first we have to wash the paint off, then wash the walls with ammonia and then
prime and paint. It would have been so
much better if they hadn’t painted at all. He even used a razor blade knife and the paint just peeled off. Unfortunately, with the sprayed on texture it doesn't come off smoothly. Looks like we'll be sanding all the walls. It will help get rid of the texture Bruce doesn't like and get rid of the paint. We hope. You just never know what each room will bring. Some rooms may not have as much smoke damage.
While he was doing that, I got to spend the morning with my favorite girls. We went to the fabric store and then to Costco. And then I got to feed my little Molly lunch. Always fun.
I did get the "Charlie Brown" lemon tree watered and trimmed back. Hopefully it will fill out some. Got the truck all packed and ready to go today. It will be great once we get a new garage door. Bruce is killing his back manually lifting the door.
We left around 6 this morning. Traffic wasn't bad at all. Got home at noon. Bruce had to get the pepper trees trimmed back for the paving guys tomorrow. Hope all goes well with that. Once the drive way is fixed we can start painting the house. Talking about this one in WC. Painting the one in Ventura will be a year or so away. Have to replace all the wood siding in the front of the house and repair the stucco.
Happy 4th everyone!
