Kitchen Remodel Day 18 to 25, Wednesday 27th

We're still alive.... though some days we're not so sure we'll make it.  We both are still coughing up a storm; but working through it.

Thursday 21

Bruce and I got the rest of the sheet rock off the walls.  Took another load to the dump.

Friday 22

Took my car down for an oil change and to fix the front end noise.  It's amazing how a $30 oil change can end up costing close to $900.  They kept the car over night.

Bruce had to go down and fix our tenant's garage door.  It had lost a nut and was off it's runners.  Didn't take long to fix.

He spent the rest of the day in the attic scrapping the loose insulation off the kitchen ceiling.  Glad we bought him a good respirator.

Also got the brackets ordered for the eating counter.

Saturday 23

Bruce cut out an 18" strip of wood flooring from the dining area.  I spent the day scrapping up the adhesive with a scrapper and a chisel.  It was a lot faster and easier than the tile flooring.  We still need to go back and sand down the black adhesive from the tiled area.

Bruce also mapped out the electrical and started attaching blue boxes to the studs.

Sunday 24

Today would have been my sister's 80th birthday.

We took down the dropped ceiling.  What a mess.  Took down some of the frame work for it. Loaded up the truck for another trip to the dump.  Unfortunately, the dump down here isn't open on Sunday's like it is in the Bay Area.

Monday 25

Took the load to the dump.  Then went to Home Depot and got some rolled insulation. Figured we'd lay it across the attic joist to help keep the house warmer.  Turned out the weather has warmed a bit so we haven't put it up yet.

Went to Lowe's to have some black pipe cut and threaded.  Took us over 1/2 hour to get someone to help us.  Then it took another 1/2 hour to get it down and checked out.

Tuesday 26

1 New Black pipe down to HW Heater
Nick came over and help Bruce get the gas pipes in.  Only one pipe was miscut sending Bruce back to Lowe's for another piece.  They worked all day at it.   Nick also helped get the rest of the frame work down from the ceiling.  Bruce was so grateful for his help.  I know he was so worried about this part of the process; hoping it will settle his stomach a bit now that it's done.

3 BP down to Stove
Plumbing for ice maker
2 BP to dryer in garage
Bruce got a lot of the old wiring pulled out.  Some of it was for the old alarm system that was removed before we bought the house.  They just snipped the wires and left them in the attic.

Lowered ceiling framing removed
I joined to the girls for a trip to Joann's then went on to Kohl's for a little shopping.

Wednesday 27

Today was an easy day.  Went to Costco and them to Home Depot for wood for the ceiling.
A much needed day of rest.  Bruce is on the patio as I'm writing this working on Suduko puzzles enjoying a little sunshine.  We'll be heading over to the kids at 3 to babysit so they can go to a movie and have dinner.
