Monday, September 15 through September 19, 2014
Highway 5 is always busier on Mondays, though the trip still only took us just over 6 hours. That's for stopping for breakfast and a few pee breaks.
Went to Home Depot and bought 5 gallons of paint and primer. One more drawer guide for the vanity in Orinda. And a throw bolt for the single car garage door.
Got our Internet set up in Walnut Creek. After that we just didn't feel like doing much. I don't think Bruce has mentally changed gears from working on the Orinda house to working on Walnut Creek.
Tuesday I had lunch with 7 quilting friends. Spend some time at Wooden Gate quilts in Danville. Helped Mona pick out fabric. I do miss having quilting friends.

Wednesday morning we got the hall way painted. Also touched up the paint in my old sewing room. We were so pleased that the paint color matched and we didn't have to do any cut in work in that room.
That evening I went to dinner with 4 friends and to the DVQ meeting. Bruce bought paint for the master bedroom; which we'll do next trip.
Mostly we just putzed about on Thursday. Oh, we did fine another hole punched in a 3rd door. They must have spammed the door so hard that it broke off part of the metal stopper. The stop you see should have another "arm" that faces the door. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to locate matching doors in northern CA; which means we'll have to buy them down here and transport them north. That's 3 of the six doors in the hall that have to be replaced. The hardest part about that is that Bruce is going to have to cut the door knob holes and route out the hinge areas. Then hope we can stain them to match 36 year old molding.
Bruce nailed the small garage door closed. How they bent those huge springs and brackets we'll never know. But since it just goes into what is now a small storage area that has a regular door into the 2 car garage, it doesn't need to be opened.
And drove back to Ventura Friday morning. We're here now until next week. Will make one more trip up before the end of September. We have a much needed R&R trip to Primm Valley in Nevada October 2nd to the 4th. Have 2 free nights and 2 free tickets to see The Band Perry. Can't beat that for a cheap birthday celebration! We'll be home for more than a week to celebrate Alissa's birthday too and will stay in town to dog sit while the kids use the Walnut Creek house while going to a friend's wedding.
