It took more than one more sanding and patching.  I've painted for several days now.  The paint/stain doesn't cover the white patching very well.  It may take a few more coats.  Bruce is missing his comfy reading chair.

Who needs a sauna when you have an attic!   Well, not quite the same.  Bruce has spent  days up there working on the wiring for the lights in the hall and sewing room.  He brought down a mass of wiring that was left over from the intercoms they had in the house.  As with everything in this place, nothing is as simple as it should be.  The hall lights are 3" recessed and my sewing room 4" cans.   He put a second switch in the hall so we can turn the lights off down were our bedroom and guest room are.  Also put a dimmer on that one like we had up north.  Just don't need that much light unless you're getting into the closets.

 

Apparently there was a ceiling fan across from the heat vent in my sewing room.  They must of patched the hole and sprayed over it with popcorn stuff.  But the can and wiring were still up in the attic.  We looked back at the before pictures to make sure we hadn't just forgotten there was a fixture there; there wasn't.

 

Where there used to be 2 switches in the dining room there are 3.  One for the dining light, one for the 3 lights over my longarm machine and one for the 4 lights in the rest of the room.  We made sure that the placement would work when new owners turned this back into a living room.

 

The lights are LED.  Although expensive, they give off wonderful light and will only cost about $1.25 a month to run.  And they are very clean looking.

 

The end of April, the Strouses went north to visit friends in Chico and McKinleyville.  It was a long 6 days without seeing them.  But we had Kaya to keep us company.  Just not the same.   When they got home they had a gift for Bruce's birthday.  A patio chair for Molly.  Just exactly what Bruce wanted.....no kidding.  His Mom always gave "un"birthday gifts.  Meaning when it was one person's birthday, if she happened to see something for someone else she'd buy them a gift too.  An "un"birthday present.  Bruce decided since he really doesn't want anymore "stuff", that what he wanted was something for Molly.  Seeing has her birthday is right before Christmas, this will work out well....getting a present in May.

Had a very nice Mother's Day.  We had Molly in the morning and then we all went out to lunch.  Well, not Nick....he had to work.  The kids gave me 3 of the cutest little vases in different colors.  Fits in perfectly with all my colorful fiestaware. 

Yesterday Alissa and I went to the movies, our annual Mother's day outing.  Nick was suppose to babysit, but got called into work, so Grampa had his first solo babysitting job.  Fed her lunch, cleaned a poopy diaper, played outside and put her down for a nap.  Alissa said he must really have worn her out, cause she slept for 3 hours.

 

Got the quilt finished for our first pattern.  I am so excited to show everyone, but can't until we get the pattern copyrighted.  It turned out so well, I'm really pleased with it.  Now just have to figure out how to market it!
