So much yet so little has been done. Where to start?
Kitchen and hall bath have both been gutted.
Ordered 7 new windows from the only on-line cheap place we could find that matched the ones that were already replaced. Long story short, they screwed up the order after they called to verify something and proceeded to change our order. After dueling it out on the phone we got them to send us 4 corrected ones at cost. We were able to use the non-retrofit windows in several places. There were siding doors off two of the bedrooms, neither of which were the master. Bruce took those out and rebuilt the walls and put windows back in.
Decided that stuccoing is a young mans sport! 800 lbs of stucco(basically cement) later we have walls.
All the walls are primed except for the family room....we're still using it as a work area, besides we plan to rip out the fireplace so it would just get messed up anyway. All the ceilings are painted with ceiling paint.
37 LED lights are in throughout the house.
We had our realtor over to see the house and give us some insight as to what people here are looking for. She thinks we are probably doing too much. Said we shouldn't redo the master bath. Nor take out all the cement that's around the back yard. Well, we have stewed and stewed over the bathroom. Think we have come up with a plan where we can leave the massive shower and just have it professionally cleaned and re-grouted. When "they" redid it, they put in a corner sink with absolutely no counter top space. The way we have it planned we can re configure the closet and get a 4' counter in.
The tile they used in both baths and the kitchen and entry were 8" clay tile in a two tone grayish color. Nasty, nasty to get out. The bathroom floor popped up easily, but not the kitchen. They cemented it down on two layers of linoleum. Took us weeks to get it up and all the "goo" off the floor. Rough edge of the tile sliced right through my leather work gloves and my finger; OUCH.
Bruce built a "pony" wall for the eating counter. We tiled the floor this past week. Just got it grouted yesterday. Or was it 2 days ago.
Ikea was having a sale on kitchens, so we purchased some very nice gray cabinets. Been putting them together the last few days. Have 8 of the 17 built. Found one drawer bottom cracked, so will have to call tomorrow for a replacement. They're very good about doing that.
We've had Molly the last two Saturday nights for sleep overs. She's so good and fun to have around. I still marvel at her vocabulary. She told Grampa the other day not to be "ridiculous". And started a sentence with "Apparently"... Just love that kid.
Oh, those great inflammatory drugs I mentioned last post...after taking for 10 days, I broke out in a rash and my tongue and lips swelled up. Not taking those anymore! Plus they decided it wasn't my hip but my back. X-rays showed that and a compressed disc. Go for a MRI soon; taking prednisone which is helping.
We are very excited that my niece Julie and husband Kevin are coming out for the week of Thanksgiving. Can't wait. Bruce said it will be our vacation too!!! Yea!!
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday.
