Whole House Water Filter
On the 15th, Selma flew into LAX. Not too bad of a drive to pick her up at 10:40; about an hour and twenty minutes. Of course, Bruce was talking so much on the way home he missed the 101 and we ended up going all the way to the 5 and coming back to Ventura on the 126. Bad news is we missed going to a quilt shop in Thousand Oaks, the good news is we went up the 5 to Castaic for a great hamburger lunch. (And it's not what you think, he didn't do it intentionally. After all he's the one to suggest we go to the quilt shop.) When we took Selma back to the airport we were on the look out for the 101, thinking the signs must be well hidden. Don't know how we missed a 3 lane huge sign! Guess the sign for "Sacramento Hwy 5" seemed more natural! I was in the back seat, so it wasn't my fault.
We went to the movies, ate out a lot and got a lot of sewing done. Worked on her block for the DVQ Opportunity quilt for 2014. All in all it was a way too short of a visit. But she said the bathroom and bedroom were very comfortable. Seemed appropriate that Selma was the first to sign our "guest book". Hoping to have it fill up and have a need for a second book. (Hint, hint to all of you who need to come see us!)

Today we bought a water softener and a whole house water filter. Bruce said it will take a few days reading and a lot of garage cleaning to get it all installed. I'm sure hoping the filter will help with the taste and look of the water. He's tired of my buying bottled water. Love the vending machines that you can refill your own 1 or 5 gallon bottles though. Makes it easy and cheaper. I'll let you know how the installation goes.
Need to get back to quilting my sample quilt.
